Future Citizenship Surveys cancelled

The Citizenship Survey is a face-to-face household survey which collects data covering a range of issues including community cohesion, empowerment, values, racial and religious prejudice and discrimination, volunteering and charitable giving.

The decision to scrap future activity was taken after considering the need to deliver cost savings to reduce the fiscal deficit. It was also decided that priority data from the survey can be dropped; collected less frequently; or collected via other means.

Responses received by the Department's public consultation were taken into consideration during the review process.

Fieldwork for the 2010-2011 Citizenship Survey concludes on 31 March 2011 with the publishing of the analyses of the results in the following months.
